DUCATI 851 RACES AGAIN IN THE AFM
Club racing is a popular sport nationwide. One thing is for sure, you meet people from all walks of life at a Club Racing event.  What they have in common is a passion for racing motorcycles.  Here is a guy who has taken that one step further and beyond.

Fortunately, Brian found what he was looking for, a 1991 Ducati 851.  Just 3 years before it was built, World Superbike started.  This event launched the Ducati as being the most dominate superbike in history.  Brian's 851 met the age minimum for SuperDino, 17 years old.

This started a long process of restoring the bike to race specs for that time period.  He even had a custom suit reminiscent of that era built by reknown Helimot Leathers in San Jose, Ca.

All of us here at the DOG club wish Brian all the best and for setting the standard for correctness and in a way complimenting those early racers like Roche, Polen, and Jimmy Adamo.

After all the work Brian invested in returning his bike to race shape, the AFM decided to change the minimum year requirement from 17 years to 12 years!  I don't know what their justification was, unless it was to increase the size of the grid.  If thats the case maybe they didn't realize the major manufacturers stepped up participation and production as a result of the World Superbike races.  This started in 90-91 and grew in variety and numbers of bikes thereafter.  With the rule change now, it puts Brian at a distinct disadvantage because he will be up against a much improved 916.  A 1996 model no less.
